Excelsior featuring
Perpetual Spark began life in 2011 as a solo piano work, Spark, and was arranged in 2013 for chamber sextet that added flute/piccolo, violin, viola, cello and double bass to the piano.
Chamber-music group Fifth House Ensemble of Chicago aims for the stratosphere with Excelsior, its adventurous debut album. The title refers to an experimental, extreme-altitude U.S. Air Force project of the Cold War era. Also on this CD are works by Caleb Burhans, Jesse Limbacher, and Mason Bates.
