On Thanksgiving

Late November comes around
Leaves surrender to the ground
Temperatures are heading down
It's autumn in America
The sun sets on a shorter day
School is out and children play
You're thankful for what you can say
Has meaning in your life
Maybe you're with family
Or with friends who fill your house
Maybe you're alone today
And feel you've been left out
Maybe you can help someone
Whose faith has turned to doubt
Now's the time to look within
And remember those without
On Thanksgiving
Have a meal and watch the game
Toss a football in the rain
Every year it's much the same
Tradition in America
Some have traveled home this fall
Others have no home at all
Soldiers serve when duty calls
How they miss the holidays
Maybe you're with family
Or with friends who fill your house
Maybe you're alone today
And feel you've been left out
Maybe you can help someone
Whose faith has turned to doubt
Now's the time to look within
And remember those without
On Thanksgiving
Don't think of what you don't possess
For what you have you have been blessed
You are the love you give away
Give thanks for living every day
On Thanksgiving
Maybe you're with family
Or with friends who fill your house
Maybe you're alone today
And feel you've been left out
Maybe you can help someone
Whose faith has turned to doubt
Now's the time to look within
And remember those without
On Thanksgiving
On Thanksgiving
