Notes from the kelp, indeed
Some staccato notes to accompany the staccato kelp.
This was my first musical creation of 2007. Two simple chords–staccato eighth notes!– that celebrate a new year.
Ta dah!

I think that’s the prettiest treble clef I’ve ever seen!
Happy New Year!

Alex, you are truly a creative individual and you have my boundless esteem and admiration. However, perhaps New Years, when you have been er, shall we say “imbibing” a bit, is not the optimum moment for composition! To wit: missing meter (1/4?), dynamic marking, tempo indication, closing bar on measure, designated instrument, title, and name of composer. Since said composition was inscribed on a public beach, a copyright notice is also advised!
In all seriousness, a most Happy New Year, my friend!

Definitely looks like microtones to me, Alex…

If kelp bulbs are note heads, those are fairly intense chords, at least to my ears.
Happy New Year to you Alex!

Ha!
You folks are cracking me up!
At least I got my stems right 🙂
If I were really clever, I’d start a whole series of little etudes created from photos I take like this. Shapiro’s “Salt Water Music.”
I’ve been playing around with ideas for my new album cover (yes, the title of the CD is Notes From the Kelp) and have been having way too much fun playing in the sand. I come back into the house looking like a five year old, covered in sand and salty sea-guck, with a big smile on my face. Maybe THAT image should be the cover. Debunk the myth of the “serious” composer once and for all!
🙂

Looks like a strong candidate for the album cover to me! Very nice. Happy New Year!
