Calm
Yes, calm…
Tempted as I was to post yet another relaxing snapshot of the Heron-du-Jour or some other local denizen, instead I’ll show you our relaxing view in Santa Barbara this weekend. The island in the distance is the north end of Anacapa, one of the lovely Channel Islands that erupted from the ocean floor and broke off from the mainland of southern California about half a million years ago. Nothing calm about that, I’m betting.

Alex,
I was just working on my taxes and ran across a receipt from Paradise Cove. I immediately thought of you and your kelpy notes. “Yes, calm…” was my response to your music and the great picture. The island looks deceptively close, not the 25 – 30 miles it is away…hence Anacapa. I’d also rather be sailing on one of those boats than preparing for my accountant’s snickers at my attempts to make money last year!
Thanks for keeping vigil for beauty and creating some to go with it.

Alex, your blog offering incites nostalgia for summers on Cayuga Lake, 30+ miles long, a mile or two wide….and to remember happy sailing expeditions of past years. Much better than soggy snow. Thanks, Alex!!
