Come fly with me…
The previous post showed you Lopez Island by foot; here it is by wing in a photo I snapped out the window of a puddle-jumper taking me off island to Seattle very early in the morning for my NYC trip last week. The bay in the foreground is Fisherman Bay, and eating dinner at an adorable shoreline restaurant just above it, I stared out to my own home, just 4 miles directly across the San Juan Channel:
As with everything in life, it’s wonderful to get additional perspective. In this case, no matter what the vantage point, I celebrate my great luck in living and composing here. Who knows what new perspectives the upcoming notes will bring.

Your photos are wonderful. Are you one of those persons who can take good pictures using the camera you got in a cereal box? Or do you have the giant lenses and $50k worth of gear?

Thanks, Paul! No expensive gear for me whatsoever– I’m not worthy of it, and besides, I love the ease of always having a small camera in my purse or on my belt to whip out when I see something I’d like to share.
The shot from the air was taken with my Treo 700p, which is probably just a 2 megapixel contraption. The other one (and almost everything else on the blog) was shot with a little 8MP Nikon “Coolpix”. I should invest in a little tripod at some point– I’ve seen the small kind with wiry legs that wrap around anything, which seems perfect for the kind of terrain I’m usually in!
