Hmmmm
What a pair.
I’m going to take a wild guess that most of my kelp-readers are old enough to remember that silly, pointless-yet-trance-inducingly fascinating yellow and red drinking bird toy from the 70’s. Often, two would be placed opposite each other to share a glass of water.
So now you understand why I post these photos, taken today from my desk chair. These two served as pointless-yet-trance-inducingly fascinating distractions from my work, and I thank them.

Humming birds and fox pups–it certainly does seem that spring is in the air. I wonder why SJ Island is such a fox haven? There must be some interesting history there, some intriguing facts. Foxes are more fun thatn coyotes, for sure. They are what we see here in the suburbs mostly, that and pesky racoons. Orcas, pods of them, now there is a sight that does not grow old or boring, kind of like that first day when the scotch broom golden blossoms carpet the hillsides. Doug and Meredith have been on their Arizona train adventure for ten days now. Hope they’re having a fabulous time. If you need distraction at some point, Alex, click over to Feel Free to Read, and look at the images I found to go over your several dozen poems–that will distract you for a moment or two. I have added fellow Shapiro fan, Janet Leigh to the poetry brigade. She sure is a pistol.

Hello, my name is Wes and I operate local live camera website http://www.DestiCam.com... we have created a page on our website where people can view your recent blog posts. If you give us permission to continue featuring your headlines on our website you should notice an increase in the number of visitors discovering and enjoying your weblog. Please go to our website http://www.DestiCam.com and have a look at your page and tell me if you approve of things. If you would like us to remove your page we are happy to do so.
Right now it appears that you have your blog set up to only include your blog post headline in your RSS feed. If you would like others to be able to read a summary of your blog entry using their RSS feed reader you will need to change a small setting in your blog options.
Here are the instructions on how to change that: login to your blogger account; click on the “settings” link, click on the “site feed” tab, then select “short” from the drop down box next to the “allow blog feeds” text.
We also have an “all local bloggers” page http://www.desticam.com/rss-sanjuan_blog_mixed.shtml where the newest blog post from all local bloggers are posted… your blog is currently included in this page. Please have a look at everything and tell me what you think. Thank you for your time.

I think the island has so many foxes because the foxes have no natural predators as far as i can tell (except speeding cars!).
Thanks for including my blog on your local site, Wes– I appreciate it. Your blog collection is a fun resource! This is a WordPress blog, not a Blogger one, so I wasn’t able to find the feed adjustments you suggested. if anyone here knows what I should do, holler. I did get to a “Settings” page and under “reading” there’s a choice of full text or summary “for each article in a feed, show…”, but it seems logical to keep it as “full text.” Correct me if I’m wrong, which is easily possible on a myriad of points 🙂

That’s correct, if you keep it as “fulltext” all of the text from your entry will be included in the RSS feed. You know how to change it if you ever want to in the future.
I’m working on a widget that allows you to show the live cams right on your homepage if you care to do so; you can get a preview of a widget here: http://www.desticam.com/flash_slideshow/slideshow_2.html
it is just a miniature slide show that cycles through all of the live web cams in the islands. The final widget should be ready for action by next week… tell me if you’re interested in beta testing it on your WordPress blog.
