Volcanic
Occasionally explosive.
The last of the three articles I wrote this month for NewMusicBox posted this week. So many words have been erupting from me lately, in addition to all the usual musical notes, that I’m starting to wonder what’s in the water I’m drinking. Oh, wait, that was vodka… now I get it… Anyway, feel free to have a gander at
The Economy of Exposure. Disappointingly, no trench coats are involved.

Good article.
Seems to be as much of a dilemma as enharmonic spelling or any other of the dilemmae that life seems to consist of.

Yes, an incredible article indeed, rife with wisdom, advice, and smooth rants. It amazes me, looking back on several of your published articles, how very much you have to say, basically without repeating yourself. I still enjoy the mp3 experience with each of your posts, even though they are short and of poor sound quality. It’s like hearing one of your voices, being in your studio, or at concert where some piece of yours is being performed, or watching you conduct a group. Are you still kind of working on your vocal CD, Alextronica? Your vocals are hot, sultry, bluesy, jazzy, and a little bit Country. SHINY KISS was a bite from long ago. It was also one of your few pieces of personal poetry I believe. I posted it on my site like two years ago I believe. It felt good here in the darkness looking out at the lights of Tillicum listening to Jenni work that flute over, speaking clearly in Shapirospeak.

Thanks; glad the article gets across!
The MP3s are indeed lower quality, and for a reason: I’m happy to showcase my work via excerpts, but if people really want to hear the whole piece, and in excellent fidelity, I encourage them to buy the track or the CD it’s on, since I’ve been so fortunate to have a lot of recordings out there of my works (about 20 CDs at last count). Three new releases just came out, from the U.S., Germany, and Australia, and I’ll highlight them in some upcoming posts.
Speaking of releases, “Alextronica” has no vocals– it’s all electroacoustic instrumental pieces. I may release a CD — just for fun– of my indie pop tunes, but that one has no title yet. “Cover Your Ears” might be a good one… 🙂
